Accountancy

OVERVIEW

The program seeks to educate individuals to become a full-time faculty member in a research-oriented academic institution. A successful academic is typically engaged in teaching and active scholarly research that involves high level of sophistication in economics, statistics, and analytical skills. Since success is typically measured in most respectable (research-active) schools by the ability to publish in top journals of accounting, finance, and economics, and the ability to interact with colleagues similarly engaged, much of the day-to-day activity of a faculty member involves research, as well as teaching. Thus, the program looks for well-rounded individuals with strong academic credentials, analytical and quantitative skills, and written and spoken communication skills.
